Fender Tex Mex Strat Pickups - The Gear Page
Dec 11, 2016 · The original pickups were the very best strat pickups I've ever heard. They were exactly what I wanted a strat to sound like. I didn't like the thin neck on the guitar though, so I got rid of it. Recently, I bought a used MIM road worn strat which I like very much. They have the Tex Mex pickups in these guitars. I love the way they sound.

Sep 30, 2017 · Have Tex Mex pickups in a parts strat. HAD some Fender CS pickups in it prior. The Tex Mex sound better. Fuller, and not shrill. Several of the CS pickups were what I'd call shrill, meaning, less body and more top. Here's something else to consider, when I swapped one alder body for another and kept the pickups, trem and neck, one of the bodies ...
Tex-Mex VS MIM Ceramics... Worth the upgrade? | The ... - The …
Sep 15, 2013 · I love my Tex Mex pickups. I have them in a CP60's strat that has had Kinmans, CS69's and original Ceramic MIM's in them. I like the Tex Mex better than any of those. My favourites are the Bare Knuckle Irish Tours in my other strat, but I still love the Tex Mex's.

Mar 27, 2022 · I have a Tex Mex Strat I bought used a couple months ago. The pickups definitely have a little more meat to them compared to vintage style pickups, but it still sounds like a Strat. I actually really like the bridge pickup, with a little bit of overdrive or clean boost on it - very responsive and dynamic.
Tex Mex Strat Pickups - The Gear Page
Mar 2, 2011 · I like the Tex-Mex pickups just fine. I highly recommend them. They don't get as much good press as other Fender pickups, but they're the best value of the Fender bunch, IMO. As for having a more expensive amp and more expensive pickups, neither is absolutely necessary. The tex-mex are not that expensive, and they sound good through a variety ...

Love/hate the Tex Mex pickups... - The Gear Page
Jan 5, 2017 · I have a parts strat, sounds great. I'm very happy with it, I built it for not too much and had a mixed set of Fender CS singles in there. But tried some Tex Mex out of a road worn and like them even more. Just great, clean, dirty and balanced. The problem is the stagger is ridiculous. It's beyond needed for a 7.25" radius.

Dec 11, 2016 · My JV Strat with Tex Mex pickups was a good guitar & I wish I didn't sell it. The Tex Mex pickups were slightly hotter and fatter than my 57/62's that I had in my 57 AVRI, and it had a classic Strat tone. If I was replacing a Strat pickup, I wouldn't hesitate buying the …
Bootstrap Pretzel or Fender Tex-Mex - The Gear Page
May 13, 2019 · Two of the three Tex-Mex pickups in the Road Worn Strat died somehow, so I decided to go with something completely different - more of a vintage Strat tone. I contacted Bootstrap, and they recommended the '54 Sparkles. Truth be told, I wasn't a huge fan of the Tex-Mex pups anyway, so I'm looking forward to hearing the '54 Sparkles in this Strat.
Strat pickups that aren't too bright - The Gear Page
May 25, 2023 · For the OP, yeah, the Tex Mex are a good sounding, slightly beefed up Strat pickup that many wouldn't consider just because of the construction (plastic bobbin) or price. You can also look at choosing your pot values to warm up the sound, maybe look for 250K pots that are on the very low end of tolerance, closer to 200K, or even try 100K.
